Pastoral Care.

By: Rev. Peter Clement (UK)

Getting involved and supporting this vision is very important; the reason being, this rehabilitation project does not only provide for the physical needs of the clients, but also delivers medical and spiritual support.

Spiritually in a sense that Jesus Christ in His earthly ministry was once confronted with an incurable mentally disordered patient, an uncontrollable and violence person, living in tombs (grave side). He repeatedly cried out day and night, caused harm to himself with stones, and could not be restrained. After Jesus ministered to him and cast out the legion unclean spirits out of him, he was wholly freed and developed a sound mind. He was later catered for, clothed and Jesus asked him to go to his friends and tell them what the Lord has done for him. (Mark 5:1-20)

This same Jesus (the Christ), has delegated His authority and commissioned His Church, which is the Body of Christ, and the ‘born-again believers’ to do likewise. (Mark 16:15-18). As obedience to this great commission, this charity project was established to support the mentally disordered patients in the developing nations, with limited mental health Institutions and resources.

Many people with mental health related issues normally begin to experience symptoms of depression from the early stages. Depression as some people are not aware might not originate from a natural cause. The word depression as known in the Holy Bible in Isaiah 61:1-3, as the “Spirit of heaviness”. This is a demonic spirit trying to control the thought pattern, the mind of individual. It finds the venerable making them feel depressed resulting to mental disorder.

As some people might be unaware, man is a tripartite being. Man is a spirit; he has a soul and lives in a body. The spirit and soul part of man is the very core of his being. Our spirits is the real us whiles our souls is the part that consist our mind, will, emotion and feelings.

When people experience mental disorder, they normally hear a voice which is known as schizophrenia. This influences the patient to cause self-harm or even to commit suicide to end his life as made mention in the beginning of this note about the ministry of Jesus Christ. Some patients try to deal with their problems by staying on drugs, and eventually becoming drug addicts.

With this explanation l would like to bring to your attention that we really understand the full scale of what we are about. As well as providing medical support, we also focus more on the spirit - soul of the patients, because that is where many problems starts. We are then able to assist them to be delivering them completely by the power of God from their mental disorder, self-harm; drug addiction and the tendency of committing suicide.

May we take this opportunity to request that supporting this project is a worthy cause which will go a long way to enhance the life of people who suffer from mental-related in illness and might have lost hope.

The Pastoral Care Team – works tirelessly in conjunction with all the other teams at Memhrep to demonstrate how the power of God can bring a permanent recovery to people with mental related issues.

Memhrep! - Reaching out to extend HOPE and Rehabilitation to people.

Support this project - prayerfully and materially.

Scriptures from the Holy Bible

Acts 10:38 How God anointed and consecrated Jesus of Nazareth with the [Holy] Spirit and with strength and ability and power; how He went about doing good and, in particular, curing all who were harassed and oppressed by [the power of] the devil, for God was with Him.(AMP)

Jeremiah 33:6 “Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them; and I will reveal unto them abundance of peace and truth.”(ASV)

Proverbs 19:17 “He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will repay him for his deed.”(RSV)

Yes, God can heal our emotions. He is our Healer (Jehovah Rapha). He wants to heal us. He wants to free us from the crushing emotional obstacles that hinder our growth to maturity. The wonderful fact is that He has the power to heal, and He has provided everything necessary for our healing: The cross of Christ, His Word, Rejoicing and praise, The Holy Spirit, etc.
